The seasonal King Tide (highest of the high tides) is now upon us. The FIU Sea Level Solutions Center (SLSC) in collaboration with the FIU School of Communication + Journalism (SCJ), is hosting the Sea Level Solutions Day at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens - Garage!
SLSC and SCJ continue their work this year with students, citizens and partner organizations to collect sea level rise data through "citizen science" flood reporting. SLSC and SCJ are developing a database with this aggregated information that will be used to verify frequency and extent of urban flooding in Miami, Florida.
Registration will begin at 7AM on Saturday, November 4th. There will be donuts and coffee from 7 AM - 7:45 AM and the event will take place from 8:00 AM until around 12 PM. Citizen science volunteers will split up into groups and venture out to a sampling location to collect flooding data.
Be sure to wear waterproof footwear (preferably rainboots!) and come with a fully charged smartphone, if possible.
