CLEO contributes to Broward environmental group planning
On Saturday, August 10, River of Grass Unitarian Universalist Congregation, located in Broward County, hosted an inaugural meeting of several different South Florida environmental groups to discuss how the congregation and each group might work together moving forward. Phoenix Gonzalez, CLEO’s Faith-Based Outreach intern, represented CLEO amidst a sea of mostly Broward-based groups. At the meeting, they discussed how to expand presence, foster better communication and attendance at events, and work toward more inclusivity and diversity within organizations. CLEO modeled especially how best to educate and train teachers and young people about the climate crisis. The result of the meeting was the newly formed Broward Climate Alliance, a Slack channel and loose association of groups in Broward County.
