Miami-Dade County Public Schools Climate Talk

Miami-Dade County Public Schools invited CLEO to their Professional Development Day that took place August 8 at Miami-Dade College North Campus. Science teachers and department heads who wanted to know more about integrating climate science into their curriculum attended 2 informational sessions led by the Director of Development, Natalia Ortiz and Program Manager, Natalie Rivas.

The informational session began with a Climate 101, where teachers were brought up to date with the climate crisis and the Earth’s current vital signs. Natalie highlighted the importance that teachers play in youth development and the intersection with climate science education. The informational session concluded with an invitation to the Teachers Network Workshop that takes place September 28 at the Center for Social Change. Natalia elaborated that in this workshop teachers will enhance their skills and receive more tools to incorporate climate science into their curriculum.
